Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. Psalm 96:3 NLT
Bad news sells. Murders, scandals, disasters, losses—these stories develop a life of their own. The news spreads quickly too. Newspaper publishers naturally print them and TV/radio shows use them as their lead stories. The Psalmist tells us to reverse this trend by focusing on good news. Not just any good news. We are to publish the glorious deeds of God.
Our God is actively working in and around us. Human history is full of the glorious deeds of God. Unfortunately, people do not recognize the hand of God at work in their midst. When Osama bin Laden died in May 2011, the world learned about it in just a few hours. Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world 2,000 years ago, yet more than one-fourth of the world’s population still has not heard of this good news. This in itself is bad news!
We must do something about this. There are many ways to get the good news to others quickly and globally. For example, my friend Ruedi regards himself as a “Facebook Evangelist.” He tells his Facebook friends about the amazing things that God has done. You can do the same. God has blessed you with unique gifts and circumstances for you to be a bearer of good news. But think globally. God wants you to publish his glorious deeds among the nations.
Glorious God, you have done great things on my behalf. You continue to do amazing things today. Forgive me for keeping this good news to myself. Help me to be a bearer of good news to the nations.
